Psychosocial Hazards

Any hazards that affects the mental well-being or mental health of the worker

Types of Psychosocial Hazards

Fatigue

  • State of being very tired, weary or sleepy that results from insufficient sleep, prolonged mental and physical work, or extend periods of stress or anxiety

Occupational Stress

  • result or any emotional, physical, social,economic or other factor that requires a response or change. 

Workplace Violence

  • Violent acts, behavior or threats that occur in the workplace

Prevention and Control

1.Fatigue

  • shift work

  • job rotation

  • get a good/sufficient sleep

 

2.Occupational Stress

  • Train supervisors in how to manage people

  • Get extra staff for peak demand times  

  • Make sure everyone knows their job responsibilities

  • Consult staff about changes

  • Provide assistance/counseling

 

3.Workplace Violence

  • Proper work practices

  • Monitoring and feedback

  • Modifications

  • Enforcement
